ROIDMI X20 Cordless Stick Vacuum Review | Testing From The GADGETS-REVIEWS Team
I like things to be clean, but I do not like to clean up. Big vacuums annoy me as they are heavy, need to be assembled and disassembled, and I have to drag them from the storage.
Being bulky, it needs to be hidden somewhere as this kind of device does not actually look like an object of modern art to place it in the kitchen and feast your eyes on it all day long :). What drives me nuts is a long cord getting tangled all the time. I have to carry it with me throughout the house, being tied to the socket. Heaviness and slowness are also annoying.
Anyway, every time I have to clean up crumbs in the kitchen, messes from kids or pick up hair left by my two cats, I get mildly depressed.
And now, I have got the ROIDMI X20 smart stick vacuum.
Checking for user-friendliness
I do not like manuals, so the first test for Roidmi is to see whether it is intuitive. There are small boxes inside, everything is labeled: 1. Rolling brush 2. Power Adaptor 3. Accessories 4. Mattress Brush. Just like in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland — “Eat Me”, “Drink Me” :).
Everything is clear, what, where, and why. It took me 3 minutes to assemble the unit. Put it on charge.
Brand and trustworthiness. If someone is embarrassed about the ROIDMI brand not being well-known yet, do not worry. It is part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, while Xiaomi is something that can be trusted. They have already established themselves as a manufacturer of innovative and high-quality products.
Aesthetics, Design, Ergonomics
There is my personal opinion that it is beautiful, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. And there is an assessment by professionals. In 2018, ROIDMI received six design awards for its X20. For me, the main markers are the German iF Award for Good Industrial Design, the prestigious Red Dot Award for Consumer Product Design and the Japanese G-Mark (Good Design Award). Really, it's cool, a high grade.
- Weight. Clearly, the X20 weighs more than a regular plastic broom. That said, you do not feel the weight, the unit does not feel heavy in the hand and my shoulders do not get tired. This is what an ergonomic design is like, with all things considered, adjusted, and calculated from the point of view of human anatomy. The brush glides smoothly and gently on both the parquet floor and ceramic tile.
Even a child can cope with such a lightweight vacuum cleaner. My daughter immediately dubbed the X20 as her “Garbage Eater Ki-Ki” and turned her cleaning into a “trash-hunt” game. So unexpectedly the vacuum cleaner has had an educational effect: now, we joyfully and enthusiastically vacuum the kitchen 3 to 4 times a day :).
- Transformer. The X20 with brushes for mattresses, furniture, a crevice nozzle and a flexible hose for hard-to-reach areas quickly turns into a small, compact, convenient portable vacuum cleaner. It is also convenient for cleaning the car interior. Just go out in the yard, vacuum and then bring it home for recharging.
A cool feature is a magnetic brush for wet cleaning. A small horizontal brush with a water tank — click — and it easily attaches to the main brush for dry cleaning.
- The power and suction power is 145V. For comparison, the Dyson v10 has just a little bit more, 151V. Of course, this power is not enough for a super dusty carpet, but for parquet and tile, this will be enough. The Engine-X 120,000 RPM brushless motor with digital drive provides a vacuum pressure of 23,500 Pa.
I would not say that ROIDMI is noiseless. But it sounds more like a purring cat, something that is not at all annoying.
The 2500mAh battery lasts for an hour of cleaning. For comparison, the much more expensive Dayson features almost the same capacity, 2600mAh. For us, with small daily cleanups, the battery lasted for almost 2 weeks, which I was very pleased with.
I do not know if you can see it from the photo, but in the dark, it pretty well illuminates dust and dirt.
- Filtration system: 6-level Air-X.
The HEPA filter is a crucial thing for people with allergies. HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) is a high-performance filter for particulate pollutants that traps allergy-causing particles in the air. There are various levels of HEPA air filtration, with the most powerful ones removing up to 99.97% of airborne particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns.

Downsides: Let me grumble a bit
Who could do without it? They must be as nothing in this world is perfect. But I have found only one.
It is hard to actually call a 0.4L-container a downside. This could be a disadvantage only in one case — if you are going to use a stick vacuum to clean a large and very dirty apartment at one go.
As you understand, it is not realistic as you will have to frequently dump out the vacuum and clean the filter with a brush, which is pretty busy work.
But let's be realistic, a cordless vacuum cleaner has not been designed for large cleanups. Therefore, I would not count off for this. Lightness, convenience, and maneuverability of the X20 are worth more frequent container cleaning. That is why my final rating is 5 out of 5.
My verdict: The X20, our new friend “Garbage Eater Ki-Ki”, has taken an honorable place in the kitchen. I loved it for its aesthetics and readiness for emergency cleaning. And hope you will, too :).

Youtube blogger Sam Pullen published the RoidMi X20 Cleaning Test and Overview, showing this wonderful appliance in action. From this video, you can see how easy it is to assemble and operate.
“Look all that, loads and loads of crap there. If you look into the filter, there is a lot more dust than I expected to be and it just pulls off that pretty cool. You can do this for your mattress. Yeah, I am actually kind of impressed with that. That’s pretty damn cool. You have got your crevice tool, everything is all straightforward. So on a scale of 1 to 10, we give it 9. We do use a Dyson on a regular basis and it is not a cheap crappy Dyson and I want to say that we are going to be using the x20 in our household”.
Another blogger, Redskull, notes that this is a smart vacuum, meaning there are Bluetooth connectivity and the app that you can install on your smartphone.
“The app is called the Roidmi Cleaner and through the app, you can basically see how much battery you have, how long it will actually take to charge the vacuum, how much battery you have left, the current state and so on. You can also see when it is time to replace the filter and you can also do software updates. But you do not necessarily need to use the app. So after using it for about two weeks, I do not have any bad things to say about it. I mean, it does exactly what it is supposed to do. There is enough suction power, so you can suck anything from the floor. You can even mop with it,” he said.
