What is the best smartwatch for kids? Many parents want to stay in touch with their kids without giving them smartphones. This is where you will benefit from a smartwatch that will allow your kid to make calls and send messages to only a limited number of people. Another thing to consider is design. Look for a waterproof and sturdy model so that your kid could wear it in any weather. Let alone the fact that kids enjoy jumping in puddles, especially when it is raining. Also, makes sure that the gadget comes with GPS capabilities and allows for setting up danger zones. At the same time, the device should have features that will encourage physical activity of your kid. And finally, we recommend you to choose a customizable smartwatch with interchangeable straps. This will make it more comfortable for your kid to wear.

If you want to keep your kid off the couch, smartwatches provide an excellent way to keep them physically active in the community. Over the past two years, manufacturers have released smartwatches with tons of child-appropriate mini-games, fitness trackers, and enhanced safety features.

Interactive Smartwatches for Kids Compared

DC Comics Batman Touchscreen Interactive Smartwatch | Best for Boys

This trendy, batman-styled smartwatch has a sleek, black-and-yellow appearance and is a favourite choice of many boys. In addition to its awesome look, it boasts a robust design and is made from premium materials. The silicone straps fit the child’s wrist nicely, while the case is made from top-quality plastic and is perfectly sealed. It takes one hour to charge a smartwatch through the included USB charging cable, while the battery lasts through the day and night.

Another strength of this gadget is its multifunctionality. The smartwatch features a touchscreen, a selfie-cam, a voice recorder, an alarm, three generic games, a calculator, and some fitness-related functions such as a pedometer and a stopwatch. This gadget is perfect for playing games and offers different watch faces and outstanding sound effects.

Spider Man Touchscreen Interactive Smart Watch | Best for Spiderman Fans

The main selling point of this model is a spiderman-themed design with bright colours. Another difference from the DC Comics Batman smartwatch is that this model has a smaller case but wider bands. Like the DC Comics Batman smartwatch, this model is also loaded with useful features including a voice recorder, a pedometer, an alarm, a calculator, and a stopwatch.

The gadget has a built-in selfie-cam and allows for downloading photos and videos. It offers six mini games that are entertaining not only for children but also adults! The package comes with an official logo and is perfect for gifting. When compared to that of the DC Comics Batman smartwatch, the Spider Man smartwatch’s package is brightly coloured and, in our view, looks more festive.

Pros: Cons:
  • Multicoloured design
  • Fascinating games
  • Bright packaging
  • Isn’t waterproof

In terms of functionality, the gadget has all the features present in the two above-mentioned smartwatches, such as a built-in selfie-cam, a voice recorder, a calculator, a pedometer, an alarm, and a stopwatch. However, the Disney Frozen smartwatch is much smaller and elegant: the case is 36 mm in diameter and 19 mm thick, while the band is only 13 mm in width.

Smartwatches For Kids: What Are the Major Features?

Now that kids' smart devices are becoming increasingly popular, a deluge of different products have hit the market. Simply by looking out for a few important features, you should be able to pick out the top performers from the poor substitutes.

Activities and Trackers

All kids' smartwatches should feature educational and fitness applications that encourage daily movement. Look out for devices that come chock full of fun activities, mini-games, and educational content.

It's common that kids' smartwatches also feature pedometers, sleep trackers, and heart rate monitoring. In this way, kids can start to learn more about their own health and get more involved in the community.

Durability

Hands down, one of the most important features of any kid-friendly smartwatch is its durability. Considering just how accident prone most kids are, you want to make sure that you're making a worthwhile investment.

The touchscreen should be re-enforced with thickened glass or composite materials like gorilla glass. The body of the watch itself should feature a high density aluminum, stainless steel, or break-free ceramic at the highest price point. Most watch bands are made from lightweight, squishy silicone that comes in a variety of fun colors.

You should also make sure the device is waterproof and can be submerged under water. Most kids' smartwatches are IPX-7 compliant, meaning they can withstand up to one hour under shallow water.

Safety Features

Part of the reason parents are going crazy for kids' smartwatches are the inclusion of new, enhanced safety features. Most devices feature real-time GPS tracking, boundary alerts, and a two-way messaging and call system.

Most smartwatches sync to a smartphone app that you can install on your phone, providing you access to your kids' sensitive personal data, location, and app history.

Best Smartwatches for Kids

Below, you will find a review of the three best smartwatches for kids. More advanced models allow for two-way messaging and calling for different contacts as well as GPS boundary alerts. Testing & Customers Reviews

We found reviews from real YouTube bloggers about the products from our article.

Tech Nuovo: "I've been using this with my two daughters. They're four and seven and we've actually all really enjoyed it. There is plenty of value for money here and a potential Christmas present. So this is the Tobi Robot Smartwatch from Little Tikes, the company behind the iconic little red and yellow flintstone card that I'm sure many people had growing up. The strap is thick rubber. It's got several holes which should suit most wrist sizes and the rubber acts as a protective cushion as well. However, the screen is not covered so bear that in mind. You get a usb cable and a stand another casing without the strap and a fold out leg at the back. So take it off your wrist and use it on a table if you wanted to. Both my daughters and I had the same initial impression. That's a chunky watch. I wear an Apple watch. I've got mechanical watches. So ranging from 38mm face to 42mm and this is bigger than that. My daughter put it on her wrist and it did take some getting used to but she did get used to it in the end. We did find it wouldn't always fit underneath some of her sleeves so it was always on show.

It's a smart watch so like every other. There is a focus on fitness to a degree. It will track your activities. You can set goals and it will track your progress as well to get you moving. There are a few games like musical statues or they're calling it Freeze dance. Dance along with the music from the watch when it stops you've got to freeze. There are a few other games like this that should get your kids out and moving. There are non-fitness games too, educational and some just for fun. The watch is interactive. Tobi is AI of sorts. Interact with him and have some fun. Swipe on screen, talk and Tobi's facial expressions and mood will change. His arms and legs might pop out at the sides and he interacts with you. There are two cameras. The point of view camera at the very top of the watch plus the selfie camera built into the watch face. You can take photos, edit them, save them, share them. Video as well. Sharing comes in the form of messaging from one Tobi watch to another. You can link the two together, send photos and emojis to each other, plus voice messages. You cannot link Tobi with a smartphone though.

Lastly it's a watch. It will tell you the time. You can set an alarm clock, a timer, a stopwatch and there is a calendar as well. There are different watch faces digital or analog. So it will suit how your child has been taught to read the time. Negatives? It rattles. Why? Those little silver arms and legs. It's those when they are inside the watch. So no need to worry if you think something is loose inside. It isn't. It's just those legs and arms. Getting the watch in and out of the strap which you need to do to charge is okay. My daughter could do it. But it was a little bit tricky getting the watch in and out of the stand. It is a lot lot harder and I had to do it because my daughter couldn't. Overall it's a nice bit of take for the money. It works well. it's not lightning fast but it's easy to navigate and the screen is responsive enough. The games are both fun and educational. The fitness bit is good, gets the kids up and moving around. The cameras take okay photos and videos. They are grainy but there's enough definition there to see what you've taken. Tobi the AI is cute: big blue eyes, his arms and legs pop out, he chats. The kids love him."

Dad.0: "Overall I really like this Fitbit Versa 3. It's not perfect by any means but there's a lot to love here. The addition of a built-in GPS is a big plus because a lot of people don't want to bring their phones on long runs or something like that. Also you can use Alexa or Google assistant right on your wrist. That's also a big plus. The screen is beautiful. It's a little bit bigger this time. There's an always on options for those that want that. The sleep tracking is really really nice and also just the activity tracking is perfect for anyone that just wants to keep an eye on how active they're being. The ability to take calls right from your wrist is also a really nice feature and if you're an Android user you can reply to text. And a major selling point especially for those Apple users out there is the five or six day battery life on this device. That's a huge upgrade over the Apple watch.

A couple things I'm not super happy with is I mean first has to be the touch sensitive button. It just doesn't recognize touch all the time and actually there's a bunch of times where it's just super frustrating to use. Another would be just kind of the snappiness of the processing power and the UI of this Fitbit Versa 3. There's a lot of times where it just kind of stutters or freezes and it's just not as fluid as an Apple watch or some of the more premium smart watches on the market. And last would just be kind of the weirdness of the Sp02 testing: how you can only do it when you're sleeping and you can only view it on the watch if you use a certain watch face.

But overall I do think this is a really good smart watch and I think it's perfect for those that kind of want that more advanced activity tracking like Fitbit offers and their Charge and their Inspire. But they want something that looks a little bit better that looks a little bit more like a smart watch and has a better bigger screen and just offers some more smartwatch features. So I do think that this is worth the price. However just be forewarned that that touch sensitive button and the UI might give you a little bit of frustrations from time to time."
