Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller Review From GADGETS-REVIEWS Team: Is It Worth Buying in 2022?
When after a year of usage, a portion of the soft-touch cover fell off from my Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Controller Series 1 (something that I could somehow handle) and then so did the bumper and I had to play on a regular gamepad for a month, I eventually lashed out and ordered the Series 2. I am writing this after three days of use. The first thing that caught my eye.
Why is the Xbox Elite 2 Better?
- Xbox Elite 2 comes with built-in batteries, bye-bye, non-rechargeable batteries. It charges from a special charger with a UBC-C cable, but you can charge it directly from the cable. Also, it can be charged in a carrying case.
- The Elite 2 supports Bluetooth and there is no longer the need to use a special receiver for wirelessly connecting to a computer.
- The surface of triggers is now nicely wavy.
- Now, the front surface also has soft-touch coverage is now on the front surface, which, for me personally, improves tactile sensations.
- There are three position trigger locks instead of two.
- The product's exterior design is much cooler.
- Following 18 hours of use, no extra charge is required.
Subjectively, the build quality is much better. In any case, if you shake the Xbox Series 1, you can hear a slight rattle, while the Series 2 does not make a rattling noise when shaken.
It seems that if you throw it into the wall, there will be more likely a dent in the wall rather than the gamepad falls apart. I refrained from testing it out, though.
It is as highly customizable as the Series 1, allowing you to save two different profiles of button settings on the controller.
Downsides:
When connected to a computer via Bluetooth, the Xbox Elite 2 cannot be connected to the microphone. Instead, you will need to use the receiver. For me personally, this is not actually a problem, but some people may find it annoying.
To change button profiles, you have to connect it to the computer with a cord, changing configuration. After that, you can continue to use it wirelessly.
Xbox Elite Controller 2 vs 1
Should you replace the series 1 with the series 2?
— Well, actually, if the Xbox Elite 1 works fine for you, then, no, you do not need to.
If you have never had such a controller, you should move on right to the Series 2. Indeed, there is no better controller on the market.
