If you need to spray a large area, a backpack sprayer has more advantages over a handheld one. The backpack sprayer boasts a high capacity from 12L to 20L. It is pretty convenient because you can do the whole job in one sitting. The main advantage of backpack sprayers is that they keep a consistent output level for a long time and produce the smallest possible droplets of insecticide.

For example, the Oregon Backpack Pressure sprayer has a capacity of 16 or 20 liters, which is sufficient to cover a lawn or a large garden. I think that the capacity of 16 liters is the best for homeowners because larger sizes mean greater weight and pressure on your back.

Due to an ergonomic design and improved weight distribution, it sits comfortably on your back, allowing for hands-free long-period operation.

Backpack sprayers have either a motorized pump or a manual lever. Oregon has four pumps, one pump every five seconds will keep the device spraying continuously. It has a max working pressure of 0.2 to 0.3 MPa and a max pressure of 1.0 MPa.

Spear and Jackson is a manual pump pressure sprayer with a 15 L capacity tank. It has a weight of 4.2 kilograms and can be operated from left or right.

Another example of a device for spraying chemicals & liquids is SuperHandy Sprayer/Disinfectant/Fogger, powered by a 1200W 110/240V AC electric motor. Atomizer foggers generate a fog/mist formed of Ultra Low Volume (ULV) droplets of 0-50μm in size & are ideal for fighting pathogens, vector carriers & pests.

There are also higher-capacity up to 98 liters electric weed sprayers 12V battery-powered or connected via a 12V supply on the vehicle. The battery-powered tank removes the need to pump liquid to build pressure. They are intended to spray large areas.

Testing & Customers Reviews

Here are the reviews from YouTube bloggers, who tested the backpack sprayers and have found them effective and worth buying.

Russell Platten: "The reason I've spent a little bit more money on an Oregon sprayer is because I've got two other sprays out there made by reputable companies, that are just basically falling apart. So I've peered a little bit over the odds in the hopes that I'm going to get a very steady machine that will last a bit longer.

When you put it together, you need to make sure that everything's tight I'll just put the thing on and obviously the pump wasn't tight screwed on at the top there but absolutely covered in weedkiller. Partially my fault.

So, this is the sprayer and it's got a major amount of coverage. The jet nozzle that's more like a showerhead just a fine spray coming out, but it's not a fan. I prefer this nozzle because you've got a little bit more control with it. You can actually lock the nozzle on just to make life a little bit easier, but in all honesty keeping the thing folding is not an issue.

I've really enjoyed using that, it's a very very effective sprayer. Works very well, but you need to make sure that you taken everything up before you use it because I've got absolutely covered in weed killers which is not a good thing. But now we've actually nips everything up. One thing that's worthy of nossas it is very heavy when you've been carrying it for a while. 20 kilograms plus the weight of the backpack means that you need to be fairly strong to use it for any length of time.

Obviously the more you use itprobably the more you still get to it. But it does feel like, it's reasonably professional, it does a very good job of spraying and for the money, I think it's good value anyway."

Jason Seiberlich: "I got this the Ryobi 4 gallon backpack sprayer. I have already tried a field a 40 psi pumps of the equivalent of the chapins and those types of products and they were not enough to drive my sprayer boom. This says it's a 60 psi pump.

One thing i will say, my first impression of this is that it is of slightly higher build quality than the field king and than my scots backpack.

I don't feel like i quite have that problem with the straps, it sits a lot better, so this is a little bit more of a core workout to stay comfortable.

This pump through three tanks of on that single battery charge just fine covered about thirteen thousand square feet.

It's not quite enough to drive the sprayer boom that i have, but it did do a pretty good job with the bifenthrin. So, we'll keep using it for the insecticides and if nothing else being able to apply that easily and more quickly to my whole pro not more quickly actually slower but without the shoulder pain. To my whole property that's going to be a huge addition still."
